Here is another difficult itinerary that departs from and arrives directly at the hotel. We head down to Centrale di Bedollo where the ascent begins for the Redebus Pass which connects the Mòcheni Valley with the Pinè Plateau. Here, take European trail no.5 (Durer Veg stage), follow the whole of the Neibnst path and reach the Palù del Fersine lodges. From underneath the village, a fork leads you to Malga Valcava along high-altitude trails until you reach the village of Keiserbinst (1,600 m above sea level). From here, the road descends to the hamlet of San Francesco where, once you pass the stream, you reach Sant’Orsola Terme. It’s not over yet, as another upward slope will take you up to Mount Costalta and then the Redebus Pass. From here, the road is in your favour until you reach the finishing point.

“Acqua Fredda” archaeological area

At the Redebus Pass (1,440 m), which connects the Pinè Plateau to the Mòcheni Valley, we find the Acqua Fredda archaeological site, one of the most important prehistoric foundries of the late Bronze Age (13^th-11^th century B.C.) in Europe. In addition to the furnaces, other tools for working copper ore have been found, such as the millstones that were used to grind the ore into sand or “flour” and the (ceramic) ends of the bellows used to keep the temperature at around 1200 °C. Of particular interest is also a decorated bronze pin, that can be dated back to the Late Bronze Age (11^th century B.C.) The site bears witness to the intense and extensive working of copper ore, a metal that is not present in its pure state in Trentino and therefore had to be obtained by means of a complex process. The site is open to the public and can be visited freely throughout the year.

Palù di Fersina Mines

A pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena and gold mine. The excavations carried out and the various extraction techniques are clearly visible inside, as is the way they have evolved over time. The mine is 5 km from the centre of Palù del Fersina, whose valley was already known for its mines in prehistoric times.
